Young McDonald Had a Dream

Young McDonald & the boys

It’s been a bumpy road since starting in 2009, but I never stopped dreaming and I’m proud to still have the pleasure and the privilege of growing your food here in Keremeos, BC.

Food and farming are on everyone’s mind these days and it’s a good thing!  Eaters need a supply of wholesome, healthy food they can trust, farmers need their support, and the land needs responsible people to take care of it.  Together, we create a fundamental socio-economic unit older than history, based on mutual, long term benefit for everyone in the society where it flourishes.

e-i-e-i-o organics is a certified organic farm (PACS 16-212) but there’s a whole lot more to it than that.  The business of farming and food is very complex.  Myths, misinformation and misrepresentation are very common in the typical mega-brand products as well as many ‘natural’ products that take advantage of our desire for alternative choices.  Becoming an educated eater can be very discouraging as the various elements of the food system are discovered and understood.  I do my best to share with you, in a light-hearted way, the challenges and rewards of doing things differently, of actually producing good, healthy food with no chemicals on a small family farm.

Nothing is sprayed here unless absolutely necessary and I will tolerate cosmetic damage in order to avoid it.  My soil is fed only with compost made right here from orchard prunings, grass clippings, locally-sourced straw, and waste organic fruit from local packing houses and processors.

Heaven is right here on earth.  Every day we have the opportunity to witness wonders and miracles and every day we have the choice to live in the world we wish for.  By tending my little piece of heaven, I hope to accomplish this and I hope that you can enjoy the benefits too.
